Comal County Fair

Hosted locally in NB, TX,.....this was our 3rd (and final), trip to the Comal County Fair :(

It is quite sad because the munchkins are about that age where they actually enjoy family outings such as the fair; where in the past, you would have thought they were being tortured. Guess we'll have to see what Valdosta, GA. has to offer next year! Salem's favorite ride, hands down, was the teacups... she wants to rage on them like no other!!!

She, along with the help of daddy, did an amazing job spinning us around....so much so, that mommy almost got sick... don't tell!

Tavin, on the other hand, loves anything that has to do with the ladies...... he was in heaven riding back seat!

His laugh... oh his laugh, brings me so much joy!! I can almost hear it in the pictures!!.....

Salem received manyyyyyyy special gifts for her 4th birthday (that post will come later).... but her favorite, ultimate favorite, was the tutu set she got in the mail from her Poppy & BuTTy! It has to be washed on a daily basis, and she even thought she could pull a fast one on me and wear it to her first soccer practice last night!!! We're out the door for her 2nd day of school today.... take a guess on what princess is wearing.......

Recently, we've been taking Salem to various plays around San Antonio, Austin, New Braunfels, etc. Last week, she was able to get 2 plays in within a matter of days! I took her to "Annie", while Drew-Drew took her down to the River Walk to catch the one of a kind "Snow White and The 7 Amigos!"

I know. I'm terrible. I never thought I would let facebook take over my life, but indeed, it has. So, most of you know that we are, in fact, moving back to Valdosta, Georgia. Half excited about this, half not. I FINALLY felt "settled" here in TX.... as in the past month or so... only to find that we're out of here. Of course it would happen that way. It's kind of like when the hubby is out of town and all hell decides to break loose.....just when you think something is "perfect", it gets pulled out right underneath ya.

Hhhmmm.... kiddos are good. BIG!!!! We've been doing lots of traveling over the summer and looking forward to staying put for awhile. During May-June, we were home 7 days..... CRAZY! The next "big thing" we have 2 look forward 2 is a 10 day sailing trip to Greece that Andrew, myself, and 4 other friends of ours have decided to take together!!!! The kids are excited to take a visit back to Grammy and Papa's 4 3 weeks of pure spoiled rotteness!

Andrew is almost fully recovered from his shoulder surgery and ready to get back to flying within these next few weeks..... he's been out of the jet for the past 3 months. He's obviously excited about his A-10 assignment; for that is what he's always wanted! Just knowing that he is happy, makes me happy! He'll be in Tucson from January-April; then off to Moody from there. I'm thinking the kiddos and I will stay put in TX during is re-qualification... stability and daily routine is a must 4 them right now.

Poor Daddy

For me... hip.... still fractured.... & just recently added 2 more fractures to the list. Still in physical therapy and have a bone scan scheduled this coming Monday to figure out what in the heck is going on with my body breaking down so easily. Looking forward to the results of this! After that, I will then have a bone density scan done... again, I'm hoping to have ?'s finally answered! It's been a rough year and I'm looking forward to feeling like myself again! Still training for all the triathlons... just unable to run at this given time... this is very difficult... I LOVE RUNNING!!!

I COULDN'T resist!! So many other things have gone in these past few months; but this, THIS, is HUGE!! I had a jelly OBSESSION growing up; owned every color imaginable! SO, while walking through Nordstroms the other evening with Salem, my heart skipped an entire beat... I literally felt it when my eyes came across such a beautiful masterpiece!... YELLOW JELLIES... with cutzie bows!!! Even better, Salem, now shares the same obsession with her mommy.

CONS: Some things never change... they aren't the most comfortable shoe out there.... fyi.... blisters r already forming after wearing them for a few hours.

PROS: They're sooooo stinkin' cute, so who cares about beat-up feet!!!!???

Lets see, mmmmmm...... over a month ago, we ventured out to Colorado to see my parents. The kids and I flew & met Andrew out there.... he did a stop-ova' in Telluride to see some friends and got a few days of "shredding" in on the slopes. We also spent some time in Denver, where I was able to catch up with one of my bff's from Alaska, Emma. We were able to get in a John Mayer concert, UFC fight, and yes, get snowed in Denver for a day! While this was happening, my parents got snowed in at their home in Trinidad with Tavi, who ended up having a double ear/yeast infection/kept my parents up all hours of the night boondoggle! Poppy and Butty were troopers throughout the whole think and we are extremely grateful for all their help with the kiddos!!! Salem especially loved making a special snowman with her Poppy!!!!

We all drove back together as a fam.... 15 hour drive!!! Can someone explain to me the obsession men have with a car that looks like its been driven to hell-&-back!!???? I just don't get it!!! It's like you're labeled more of a badass.... like "Dude, I've been places", or some shit... again, I don't get it; however, it does give me a good laugh!!! I love him for it!

We had it all planned. She was excited. We put lips on before we left. She picked her outfit out for such festivities. A mommy/Salem spa day. The intentions were true. Real. Until.....

She freaked the F' OUT!!! I got her in the doors, she picked her polish color, they sat her very own "pedi chair" up.... & she wouldn't have it! The screaming started. More than anything, I think she was overwhelmed by the other 50 women sitting in there, sipping their wine, relaxing AWAY from husbands/children... then here we are, all eyes on us. Salem didn't like it, not one bit!

She did like pretending 2 dry her non-painted/non-manicured nails!

I finally got her calmed down enough to at least let MEEEE get my overdue pedicure done. She sat in my lap the entire time & then we did what she wanted to... we went shoe shopping! Hey, I wasn't complaining!

Been jet setting a lot lately & this is what we look like..... just mommy Quinn and her 2 cubs. 7 pieces of luggage, 2 car seats, double stroller, purse, diaper bag, 3 year old, lap child, & rental car! Oh, its been fun; & we're gearing up for it again in 2 weeks to go to Colorado to visit Poppy & BuTTY!

We're still alive and kicking!!! Well, sort-of. Andrew took a crash today skiing in Tahoe, dislocated his shoulder for the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, oh hell, I lost count how many times!!!! My hip is still giving me the shits and am doing rehab 2 x's per week. Slow process, but optimistic that I will, one day, have a running career again; or should I say, SANITY back (is more like it!)

Kids are fan-freakin'-tastic; which is all I could ever hope and ask for!!! Salem is still digging school & has moved onto learning how to read and write... this is all she wants to do... ALL DAY LONG!!! Writing Mom and Salem, are her favorites! We've also signed on to have her in swim lessons this summer; looking forward to that!

Big boy Tavi, is exactly that... BIG!!! Today, he wore a pair of 5... YES... 5T shorts 2 the gym!! He is massive & loves to cuddle with mama; which can b difficult to do with his size/circumference!

Hhhmmm.... other than that, we've been busy with travels and don't c that slowing down anytime in the near future! Drew recently went skiing in Taos, while I took a trip to LA/San Fran/NAPA/Sanoma/Sacramento with some girlfriends!!! Andrew gets home this weekend & next week, the kids and I head out to go visit Andrew's fam in Florida. Then, we're back a few weeks, only to turn around and head north to visit my parents & close friends in Colorado! Fun, fun, fun!!!!!

Will post more of our happenings in the days to come. For now, I just wanted to do a quick "fill-in" to inform all and motivate me to get on here more frequently!

Longhorn Ironman 70.6

Okay, for those of you who facebook, this will b repetitive....& for those of you who don't (DADDY!!!!), here you have it!!!

FINISHED!!! 5 Hours, 34 minutes!!!

Transition 1... thousands of bikes! (Someone asked and no, that is not me in the photo!)

Contemplating throwing in the towel.... just by looking at the hefty swim!

The swim waves were in age groups and a different heat went every 5 minutes

SO, I LOVED THE RACE!!! LOVED, LOVED, LOVEEEDDD ALL 70.3 MILES OF IT!!! Even the swim; which I totally suck at! It consisted of a 1.2 mile swim (my time=43 minutes), 56 mile bike ( 2 hours, 51 minutes= average speed of 19.6 mph) & 13.1 mile run at the end (1 hour, 52 minutes =8:33 average minutes per mile.) 22nd place in age group/wave & 96th overall!

Running into the arena for the finish! I love the sign that is being held up in the background... "Enjoy the Moment!!"

The only downfall to all of this is that now, I have my heart set on completing a full Ironman=140.6, in Arizona, as soon as next year. That is also the dilemma. I'm having an inner battle trying to decide what is best for my family. I felt good on Sunday when I finished, GREAT! Had it been the full, I think I could have done it, for sure.!! BUTTTT... I won't lie! I trained my tail off, REALLY! I tried my hardest to have it take away the least amount of time possible away from the fam., but there were just days, especially on the weekends, that I couldn't get around being gone during the day for 4 hours or more.... AND THOSE DAYS SUCKED!!! It's one thing to be gone for an hour or so run (I like to call it "free therapy"), but being gone for HOURS, brings a tremendous amount of guilt and stress on. Again, the feeling of completion is amazing, but it came at a huge expense.... emotionally, financially, physically... and I realize all those things. This isn't a poor mans sport! U know you're f-d in the head when you start selling things to buy race running shoes or those hefty entry fees ($280 for the Longhorn!!!) I know, $280 to RACE, that, in itself, is CRAZY!!!

So, a lot to think about and ponder during this "off season." Now, marathon training will kick in and I'm planning on running the Austin 26.2 in February. I know this will come as a shocker, but I'm going to take a huge (for me) hiatus from Thanksgiving- January 1st off and spend every minute with my family... they deserve it!!! I think Andrew is more relieved that it's over than I. For me, I feel as if I checked that goal off and now what's next???.... obviously the 140 miler!!!

Any takers on buying me a tri-bike???? What, it's only like $4,000!!!!

Catching butterflies!

Okay, I hope you're all in need of a good laugh this am because this, THIS, was comical!!! With a million butterflies swarming all around, you would THINK it would be an easy task to get ONE, just one damn butterfly, in the freakin' net!!! No, hell-to-the NO, we were out there for an hour, and I think we succeeded MAYBE 3 times. Andrew attempted first.... until I got completely frustrated with him because HELLLOOOO they were all around us and he was taking FOREVER to catch one!! So, I took the net (in a pissed off "I'll show you fashion") & went at it myself. Mmmm.... as you can see, it was way more difficult than I initially thought and found myself spinning in circles while the kids/Andrew laughed out load behind me!

Oh, and in attempt to do so, I knocked Salem over, sent her into a crying frenzy, pissed Andrew off for doing so/not having more SA &....... eventually threw in the towel... after I caught my precious butterfly a flippin' butterfly of her very own!!

Next time, I'm buying a bigger damn net!

I ventured out and took the little ones to the fair this past weekend. Much to my surprise, Salem LOVED riding the rides.... so much so, that Andrew, had to take her back the very next day! Salem and her teacher, Mrs. Savtora (she's French.) Oh, and some annoying classmate who never let up on the crying...seriously...get a load of yourself kid..what r u 3 or something!??

It has been a challenging week around here. Salem started preschool 2 days per week..... and I'm not sure how I feel about this. Mixed feeling is a better way to describe it. I love her going because she loves it and is all around ready to be in a school environment; however, I am struggling with her not being in arms length away from me. It's a WONDERFUL, local, montessori school... and other than me not being "right there" if need be, I don't have any other complaints. She goes 5 hours twice a week, and even gets in an hour of gymnastics on Thursday mornings ( one of the high-roller families @ the school paid for ALL the kids to have this every week ALL year long!!!.. CRAZY! Meaning.... they pay the local gym facility to come to the school for lessons and utilize the gymnasium equipment THEY bought the school!) We're very grateful for this, for we forfeited this extracurricular activity when Tavin came along.

Other than that, we're all around crazy-busy... as we all are! My mom is flying in tomorrow, girls night out in the PM (with some bowling action), my Lance Armstrong Team olympic triathlon is in Austin on Monday, brother coming to town Tuesday, driving to Arlington next weekend to watch my cousins Texas Ranger baseball game, home for a few days, then flying to

LA for the weekend after that. HOLLY COW!!! Not to mention the IronMan is approaching at a hight rate of speed & training is kicking into high gear!!! Life is good, life is good.... I can't complain a bit... Other than I still wish I had a nanny to do complete random tasks that I don't feel like doing. Oh, and one that would work for under minimum wage is also preferred!

Tavi is busy motoring around these days and getting into anything his fat-rollie hands can get into! He is also cutting teeth...that's all I'm going to say about that!

I REALLY cannot believe my precious baby luvs is 3!!!! Today, 3 years ago, we brought her home to our sweet, little house (that I miss like crazy), in the North Pole. There are days (many of days), where I wish I could turn back time and relive those 3 years. Make better decisions, slow down a bit, videotape her growing up more, RELAX, not worry about keeping up with daily expectations, but just CHILL out and do nothing with my family. Yepppppp........., but THATTTTT won't happen; and as usual, our week is jam packed with things to do, apts., errands, play dates, must-haves, to-do's; aahhhh.... if only we had a nanny to scrub our kitchen floors after every meal with a toddler, 8 month old, and hairy-ass dog!!! Then, I think life would be much more manageable!

Catching up, catching up, catching up.... I'm pretty sure that has become my life story!! I try my hardest to stay 2 steps ahead, but it seems to be the opposite 99% of the time! Haven't I said this all before??? I sound like a broken record..really!

In case you were wondering...yes, he is still fat!

So..... two weeks ago, our jet setting trip began! I flew with the kiddos to Orlando, dropped them off with Andrew's parents, flew to Indy to spend the weekend with Andrew, then pressed for a 4 day girls trip from there, then back to Orlando, picked up the kids and flew home! I must also mention that I had a triathlon the day after I got home; which I would never recommend doing after being on vay-cay for 2 weeks... What was I thinking??? I did end up doing better than I thought I would, so I guess I can't complain!

Now, we're gearing up to have Salem's 3 year birthday party on Sunday (tears!!), Andrew's parents flying here on Monday, then we fly out (again), to Manhattan for 5 days... ALONE!!!

Indy..... Andrew went there to do the Nascar flyover at the Brickyard 400. I had never seen Nascar before, and I can't say I have any desire to see it again! Sitting in the bleachers as a "normal spectator" sucked, but once we were able to get into the Pagoda/press boxes with the boys, things took a huge turn..4 the best! It was an experience I will never forgot (mostly involving the clientele) and it was touching to see how grateful thousands of fans were to the guys military service. They had little kids, all the way up to the high-rollers in the press boxes, asking for autographs and taking pictures with them. I mean, WOW, it was a sight to see!!!

Kissing the bricks...the winners tradition! I HAD to do pushups on the them...would you expect anything less from me???...I think NOT!!

We also had some tennis connections, that allowed us to hit up the World Tennis Championship, that was (oddly enough), being held that same weekend in Indy. We watched Samurai Sam defeat his Canadian opponent in the semi-final match. Below are pictures of his traveling entourage that sling-shot headbands, t-shirts, etc. into the crowd during breaks; it is classic!

Rumor has it, that she only changed out of the princess dress to go get in her bikini for some pool time!

Now, I'm off to the doctor to get her ruptured eardrum looked at from all that swimming! My guess is that they'll ask me to keep the fishy out of water. Hhhhmmm.... the princesses pool party on Sunday should be interesting!

We floated this past weekend on the Comal with a group of our friends. My girlfriend, Jenni, made DELICIOUS sangria drinks for us and was kind enough to share her mug with me to drink from. For those of you who know me, you CANNOT give me ANYTHING with a straw.

Sipping?????... what is that??? It can be water, coffee, liquor, WHATEVER, I will CHUG it down like no other!

Oh man, The Birthing Center mug was a hit!!!! You should have seen the looks/comments I received! Thanks Jenni! I fit in perfectly with the classy, pregnant, meth. addict that was trying to pick a fight with my "pretty husband!" Gotta love the tubing crowds!

Baby Brooklyn & Tavin... Crashed out!

With Summer officially here, we are now belling up to the local Schlitterbahn 1-2 x's per week! I dread all the preparing it takes to get myself and two children out the door; but once we're there (and soakin' in some rays,) I'm golden! Another bonus, is that all Salem's bff's have passes, too! This, also, makes it all the more enjoyable for the entire Quinn family! I get to b.s. with all my lady friends how we look so fat in our bikini's, while are little ones run around and play without a care in the world. I wish I still didn't care... how does that one day just start happening??? It's like, literally overnight, you wake up one morning, only to notice that you have large thighs and you now, somehow, find them repulsive. WTF?? I used to care (A LOT), to mediocre caring (now), and eventually, I (most likely) won't give a shit and let it all hangout!

'K..... need to run out to our local Starbucks for my 2nd breakfast--- latte and coffeecake! You know, I need to keep up with my future expectations of myself!

So..... Poppy & Butty (my dad and step-mom), came out from Colorado, to pay us a visit a few weeks ago. We showed them around Gruene, had a beer in Luckenbach, toured some wineries in Fredericksburg, and sent them to a Bonnie Raitt concert as an early Christmas gift. We loved having them here and wish they could have stayed longer!

Although, I'm sure Poppy doesn't miss being sandwiched between an infant and screaming 2 year old in the back middle seat!

Last night, I took Salem to her first ever movie experience @ the IMAX theatre in San Antonio. My girlfriend, Jenni, also took her daughter, Emerson, who Salem just adores! We saw Earth, and HIGHLY recommend for anyone out there with little ones who are looking to venture out & kill some time this summer. Salem did extremely well, and I'll even consider doing it again in the near future. We got all dressed up, painted our toes, put makeup on, did our hair (she ripped hers out in about .2 seconds... it was all up in clips and looked so cute; but no, she HAD to have the headband that didn't match a bit...oh well!) We went out to eat, grabbed smoothies, coffee (you didn't expect me to sit through a movie and 2 toddlers without, did you?), a Target snack run to get whatever treats/snacks we wanted, popcorn, etc., and then it was ON!!!! She sat through the entire film with only an occasional "Momma, it's time to go to our house!" (followed by a few fake tears... when she would get scared.) BUT..... she pushed through like a trooper a fell asleep in her pj's on the way home. Love it!

* Size 12-18 month clothes (HE JUST TURNED 5 MONTHS!!!!!)

Oh my, my little man isn't so little anymore, he's HUGE!!! We went from 0-3 month clothes, straight to 12-18 (and managed to skip everything in-between.) How does that happen? Salem did the EXACT same thing, I just wasn't prepared for it, again.

So, Yaya (aka my Mom), just left yesterday. Salem doesn't know what to do with herself and is constantly going into the guest room, stands next to the bed, puts her head in her hands and asks over and over for her Yaya to come back. So sad. Luckily for her (and me!), Poppy and BuTTY (aka my Dad and Stepmom), get her tomorrow for 5 days! After next week, her world will really be rocked when daddy, Poppy, and BuTTy all leave the same day and she's left with just...... ME for 2 weeks!!! Does anyone out there want to come visit and entertain my child for me!???? Please!

Goodness, where I have been? Running around like a mad woman would be the answer to that question.!

Back up. 2 weeks ago, we hosted a charity event at our house to raise money for the Air Force Assistance Fund (to benefit families of wounded soldiers, etc.,etc.). Andrew and his buddy, Andrew, from pilot training (years ago), cooked up a massive crawfish boil (that I HEARD was tasty; I don't dare eat anything that is in the same family as a cockroach.) Best of all, Joe, Val, and HARB (all friends from Alaska), came in for the event and spent the weekend with us!!! For those of you who are unfamiliar, HARB married Andrew & I in Alaska and then Joe/Val a few months after (in AK, ANYONE can get a license to marry couples for a day.) Now, Joe is flying in Del Rio, and HARB is the West Coast A-10 Demo Pilot out of Tucson.

So, the guys & Val (she loves crawfish), stood around the table all night eating bugs, while the girls took care of "real business"...... throwing shots down like they were going out of style. We had our priorities in order!

Ah, I almost forgot about the famous Quinn weed sprayer filled with margarita mix!

It was a wonderful evening full of friends, laughter, food , fun & Andrew sarinating us all with classic fighter pilot songs! I've come to conclusion that a party isn't a parrrrty without Jeremiah Weed, fighter pilot songs, & HARB showing us a crap ton of aviation related videos on the computer! Gotta love them!

On another note, Katie is here (can't wait to see you!), my mom gets into town this evening, I'm in full-up ironman training mode (ex.... I trained for 5 hours on Sat, light run on Sunday, 4 hours yesterday, and 2 today.) I'm back to 2-a-days for most of the week with one complete rest day where I over carb-o-load. I get up at 4AM and workout for few hours before Andrew heads to work, then I go back with the kids to utilize the alloted 2 hours. This way, I don't feel as if too much time is taken away from the family. The race is in October (Austin), with a few olympic distance triathlons in between. I've been working with a trainer, swim coach, & friend (who've I've managed to talk into racing with me... love you Jenni!), to make me a more efficient/ well-rounded competitor and tweak my form/weaknesses. I love it all! Other than being a wife and mommy to my family, THIS is what I feel like I'm meant to do in this life. Pushing my body to its maximum limits brings me so much joy (crazy, huh!???)

Andrew and I also purchased iphones over the weekend. I find myself throughout the day wondering why in the hell I even did such a thing. People, I barely have the time to wipe my own ass, let alone play with a damn gadget! Half the time, I end up calling people by accident because of the sensitive touch screen. To be honest, if I didn't have children, I would just do away with the whole cellphone dilemma. The thought of people NOT being able to get a hold of me 24/7 sounds....... PEACEFUL! Although, with having 2 little ones around, I'm not quite sure what peaceful means anymore. It sounds good though!

THIS, is how I found Salem when I returned from my run this evening. She had her skirt on inside out, was wearing it as a dress, high-heels on the wrong feet, and NO panties on!!! She was having the time of her life twirling and whirling away (thank goodness we still don't have any nearby neighbors!) If I would've arrived 10 minutes earlier, I would have found her "naker-buns" running around with nothing on but the high-heels (of course :) washing the car! He said one minute she was dressed, and the next she wasn't!

odd that I have both Tavin and Salem's birthday parties planned, Christmas presents purchased (for EVERYONE that we shop for), Halloween.... CHECK! (family matchy-matchy thing this year), baby presents purchased for friends that don't even have babies yet ( just waiting patiently for THAT phone call... you know who you are!), the list goes on! I'm even starting on Christmas 2010 presents because they are going to be TIIIIME consuming! Just wondering what your thoughts were! Maybe I need meds.! Do you think???? And No, I'm not one of those crazy wives that wracks up the credit cards or anything; it's all done with reason/"budget". But still, my poor family. My children will one day resent me for putting them in such hideous attire for special occasions (if they don't already.) I get the feeling Salem is almost there and Andrew..... well, he just keeps his mouth shut (which is genius on his part!) Tavin is IT, so I feel like I have to take full advantage of him while I still can!

bad days back-2-back, I don't know if I can handle this!!!! First off, as of yesterday, I had only slept 12 hours since friday. I had my in-laws fly in, my race, sick kids with coughs that lasted all hours of the night, training, etc.,.... with hardly any sleep each night. So, Tuesday night, I had just drifted off, when Salem came into our room. I stayed with her for 2 hours (coughing), went back to bed to go to my "happy place" again, when I heard Tavin screeching this GOD AWFUL sound in his crib. I raced in there to find him freaked the F out because he was having difficulty breathing. HOLY SHIT!!!!! I threw him in the car and drove him straight to the ER. They took one look at him and started my little man on breathing treatments (his oxygen levels were low.) The Doc, and myself included, SWORE up and down that it was RSV, but the test came back negative. A few hours later, we were sent home with an ear infection and albuterol to treat wheezing.

Then, it got worse from there. Salem wouldn't nap (which we all know can make for a bad day itself), Tavin required obvious attention, and then,..... I BROKE my freakin' toe!!! I've never broken a bone in my body, until now that is. It's black/deep red, swollen, mushy, and I'm just PISSED OFF!!! I got up and went to the gym at 5 this morning, to manage to get somewhat of a workout in. I won't go to the doctor because I can't bare the thought of listening to him tell me to stay off of it and not run! NOT RUN, I have to! It is the ONLY thing that keeps my sane! I have a bad day... I run, not enough sleep... run to wake-up, husband stress.... run, ate to many cookies... definitely RUN!!!! I can't function like this!!

So, here we are. Sitting around. We're trying to make the most of our "lock-down" status by baking cookies, coloring eggs, art activities, etc. Salem was helping me make cookies this morning, when the lid to the sugar container decided it didn't want to stay on anymore; therefore, all 5 pounds of sugar ended up on my kitchen floor. Then, I attempted to vacuum it all up, only I managed to ALSO suck-up a sock of mine (that has now stopped my $500 vacuum from functioning... fuck!!!!)

I'm worried about my kids heath (even though I know they're making progress), my toe fucking hurts, and I have a charity event/party/crawfish boil this Saturday at my house that I have to prepare for.. SHIT! I need sleep, a new toe, a set of children that are 100%, a couple housekeepers to follow me around, a chef (or 2), some prozac, painkillers, anxiety medication, a case of wine, and someone who is ready (and willing), to bling out the colored eggs with some glitter (that will then spill on the floor and stay there for eternity, due to the broken dyson.) Are you interested????

Reliving the moment!

Before the day begun!

Valerie and I competed in the Great Urban Adventure Race held in Austin on Saturday! Okay, we didn't come in first, but we came in 14th out of 500 teams!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD!!! Never, in a million years, did I EVER think we would do so well! Thanks to my teammate being familiar with Austin, we are now headed to the National Championship in New Orleans this November!!! Clue man
The best thing to compare it to is the Amazing Race. We were handed a list of clues to kick off the race, and had to complete 11 challenges/puzzles/obstacles/boat rowing,etc. (you were given 12, but could skip 1) in under 5 hours. Val would have to correct me on this and the results aren't posted yet, but I'm pretty sure we did it right at 2 1/2 hours (which felt like 4-EVAAAA!) We had them confirm our placement on multiple occasions because we couldn't believe we did that well! The top teams do this crap for a living people. They have teams of people that help them out with where to go, what clue to do first, what bus to get on (the only other form of transportation you can use is a bus...which Val and I used 2 x's.) There was a team that placed 11th that ran the entire race and DIDN'T use the bus (all the stops slow you down.)

You can also utilize navigation systems, phones, and have people google info. for you. This sounds easy, but it is WAY more complicated than it sounds. We tried to have Joe & Andrew help us, but it didn't work in our favor. In this particular clue (photo), we had to find a blue sock, grape mike & ikes, or a bounty bar. Sounds simple, right???? We had the guys out looking for any of the above, and they couldn't find a single item!!!!! We were running around the UT campus searching for Bevo, when Valerie came up with the idea to start knocking on college kids doors in search of a blue sock. Well, the 1 door I knocked on came out to work in our favor and the chick gave a pair to us for $5!!!! You also had to take photos of all clues and receive stamps for completing the task. If you screwed up or didn't complete the task, you were penalized 30 minutes on top of your finishing time. We were careful with attention to detail, and didn't accumulate any penalties.

Adam and Eve should have won for best costume; but nope, they were beat out by 2 lesbians called "Dos Frutos" (2 fruits!) Funny, and I guess that's what I should have expected coming for Austin and all!

Aahhhh...... so now we will be gearing up/strategizing for the Nationals in New Orleans. I'm thinking we need a team of people to fly out there, set up shop at local coffee bars with internet connections to google the crap out of stuff for us while we run our asses around town! fly a kite!" It has been windy (as all hell), so we've been trying to take full advantage of it (because I can't fathom a day without getting out of the house!) Salem did/does exceptionally well flying the kites on her own. I say kites because we can't seem to keep them around after each use. We do fine flying them for hours (literally), but when it's time to head inside, the damn things always end up in a nearby tree.

Uh.... we'll eventually get there! For $3 a pop, I won't complain for an endless afternoon of pure fun!

Okay, I always show Salem my blog posts (mainly because she is always up in my bizzz-ness)...no, no, no, no....mainly because she LOVES to look at herself in photos (yes, that is it!) So, the last post was about Tavin turing 4 months old and let me tell you, sista took much notice that it wasn't something about her; therefore, I received a lecture that "Mommy needs to have special pictures of mommy and Salem BECAUSE she's dancing princess Salem....SOOOOO.....BECAUSE I'm Salem and you're my mommy BECAUSE..... we're not having Tavin or daddy in the pictures BECAUSE daddy and Tavin are boys and mommy and Salem are girls SOOO....... only mommy and Salem in the pictures, okay mommy!!!???" She is VERY into the words So and Because these days. I'm trying to listen to myself when I talk to see what habits I DON'T want her to pick up on. I know, for a fact, that I have a lot of Um's, but I'll go ahead and put the blame on the kids for that one! I think my willingness to speak clearly and have a large vocabulary went completely out the door after childbirth. Man, what I would do to have some of those hard earned brain cells back. My brain just isn't as speedy as it used to be, damn!

So, as Salem requested, we went onward with our "Mommy/Salem photo shoot" , and to be perfectly honest with you, I don't think she really gave a damn about the whole thing. She's already such a control freak, that it scares me! She tells me how to wear my hair, clothes, turn the radio up louder, put it on such-and-such song, will point out a blemish on my face and tell me that I'll be okay and to just go ahead and eat some of her organic chocolate flavored bunny crackers to help my complexion/make it go away! I'm telling you, she is a TRIP!

Perhaps if you're ever in need of an honest opinion in the near future, you'll know who to blog.....Salem!

4 months... Already?

Salem, of course, had to assist mommy!

Yesterday, my chubba-hunk-of-burnin'-love (don't ask), turned 4 months old (sobbing while typing.) We celebrated by having a wonderful crab dinner (Andrew and I), and Tavin dove face first into his new love... food (Salem had asked for pp & j on pita bread with bananas and green beans!) Oh my God, he is going to be my little eater. He cannot get enough! At each meal, he would lick his lips dry in hopes of a rice speck being located by his salivating tongue. He kicks, laughs, giggles, smiles, and just down right inhales his deliciousness!

He goes in tomorrow (Tuesday), for his 4 month checkup. He's been rolling over for a few weeks now, and is just an all around happy little baby boy!

Desperate Housewives Gone Wild!

Oh man, last night, a group of my lady friends and I got together for our monthly dinner/wine night in the neighborhood. There were 7 of us that ranged in ages from 24-51. We were having a wonderful dinner on the patio, until my friends lame ass neighbor came a knockin' on her front door complaining of noise.......IT WAS ONLY 9 PM!!!! Get a life! So, we moved our shin-dig inside and opted for an indoor ping-pong tournament, followed by shirades, hummdingers, drinking games, and drunken dancing!! I know, for a fact, that 2 of the housewives are hung-over housewives today that can't even get out of bed and/or off the couch (and no, I'm not one of them!) Just letting loose and acting like drunken sailors every-so-often, is the best mommy/wifey therapy there is! Why pay a shrink, just invest in your local liquor store!!

Oh, and I don't recommend playing anything that involoves a racket if the opposite opponent happens to be a tennis pro! In our case, that would count for 2 out of the 7! Can you predict the outcome?

We took the kiddos to a local pottery painting place over the weekend (one where you pick out the pottery, paint it there, then they put it in the kiln and fire it for you.) I can't brag, praise, give shout-outs, to how cool, awesome, wonderful this place is!!! Salem LOVED picking out her own pieces and developing works of art out of them. What fun!

All the other children in the bistro were painting sweet kitty cats, puppy dogs, princess plates; but not our kid, Salem picked out margarita glasses to decorate! Hey, we won't complain!

Instead of giving me a prescription for the rash, the doc is having me apply Milk of Magnesia generously every diaper change. I've never heard of this remedy before, but thought I would pass the helpful information on.

Andrew snapped a few photos of the cubs and I sleeping in the other morning! Salem has been sneaking into our room in the early hours of the morning and sometimes, SOMETIMES, I like to keep Tavin in bed with me if he wakes up for a bottle in the middle of the night.

My" hip" days are officially over. I'm uncool, out of style, and just plain old LAME-O! I went shopping this weekend by myself and hated ever second of it. Sounds crazy, right? I didn't know what to do with myself. Didn't know where to put my hands, felt awkward walking around without children in tow, and couldn't find one article of clothing that I would remotely even think of spending money on. I had 6 hours to spend at the mall, and jetted after 3 to find the nearest Target because I felt more "at home" there. I NEVER in a million years thought that I would EVER feel this way or say such words. I used to LOVE shopping. I loved shopping so much that I did it almost every day after school. What has happened to me?

I'll go ahead and answer that myself. I recently made a purchase of one of these:

That, in itself, should explain what has happened to me. I no longer care about what is cool. I simply go with what is functional and makes my life easier; to include wearing my keys around my wrist at all times!

I admit it. I'm crazy about babies. I love babies. I can't get enough of them! Seriously, I am in love. Again.

Unlike my firstborn, I am not anxious for him to reach another milestone or learn a new trick. At least not yet. A new trick means he's a month older and a day closer to "growing up." Instead, I am relishing the moment. I am soaking in these baby days that are fleeing before my eyes. Did I mention that I

love babies?

So, if you're wondering why my answering machine is taking more of your calls, my house isn't as clean and dishes stay in the sink a day longer.....it's because I am enjoying my baby boy. My little man won't be this tiny forever and he won't give me those delicious open-mouth kisses forever, either. I'm soaking it up while I can.

My girlfriend, Janelle, hosted a Valentine's Party today full of candy, yummy food, more candy, games, dancing (not on the pole), activities, art, exchanging of valentine's, mom's bitching about their kids, breaking up fights, tantrums, etc. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! In all honesty, it truly was a hit considering there were SEVEN two year olds and 4 infants! Salem was the most out of control child in the group today; that is until everyone else left and she had her Knoxy all to herself. I've never seen her flip the switch from devil child to angel face so quickly. She DID NOT like having to share his attention and I think she felt threatened by the other 2 girls there that were possible competition. OOOOHHHHH-WEEEEE, but once they all bailed, she was on cloud 9-er!

She's only 2 and already a total groupie! We went to our friends house this weekend for a bbq, and their son, Kaeson, is lucky enough to have an actual drum set (and not one of the cheap ass ones from Walmart.) I'm not sure how much they spent on the thing, and I probably wouldn't want to know. His daddy used to be a drummer in a band and have decided to pass on the skills to Kaeson. Let me tell you, the kid is good!!! He can hit the foot pedal (I'm sure there's some complicated term for it that I'm unaware of), and hit all the other pieces (again, I'm sure there's a better word than "pieces") all at the same time! Salem gave it shot, but decided she prefered to stand back, dance, and gaze upon her dreamy drummer boy!

Salem has always been all up in my business when I TRY/ATTEMPT to get any sort of cleaning done around the house. So much has been going on, I can't possibly keep up! Last week we went out to Kris and Dawn's ranch to "getaway" and let the boys hunt. They came hope empty handed on the deer, but Kris was able to snag himself a bobcat! New Year's=BORING! I'm pretty sure we were both in bed before 12 (you know it wasn't that exciting if I can't even remember what in the heck we were doing.)

Tavin is getting HUGE, no..no, GARGANCHUAS (sp?). Last week he grew out of his preemie clothes and already, just this week, he is now out of newborns. I still can't figure out how they grow so darn fast! He is sleeping in his crib and slept a whole 7 hours before needing a bottle last night! He is SUCH an angel and SNUUGGGLE BUG-A-ROOSKIE'S! His favorite thing is to lay on the bed with his mama or daddy (but especially his mama...even Andrew would admit this) and hold each other. He will maneuver/manipulate his body just so he can get his adorable self up against one of us. I love him, love him, love him!

Salem is still adjusting well; although, at times, she still thinks SHE'S Tavin's mommy! Me having to put her in her place is SLOWLY becoming less and less of an issue. She'll be starting a tap/ballet class once a week next month. Can't you just see her now??? She stays busy by constantly asking to dance to John Mayer while wearing my high heels and singing into our hairbrush microphones! It was cute at first, but she's starting to play out one of my favorite artists and I don't want THAT to happen! I'm hoping she'll find some other daily activity that amuses her to that extent....like TODAY! If not, I'll have to be creative and think of something for her.

Santa delivered, yet again! I've been holding onto all of Salem's gifts since last Christmas, so I was thrilled to get some of my closet space back for other storage necessities! Some of the items Santa brought her this year were:

* Princess scooter and helmet that she LOVES

Andrew went out and did separate shopping all on his own for the kids and didn't tell me. He bought the kids clothes, dvd's/books and did a great job! I was super duper impressed! Okay, so the clothes were all Florida Gator colors, but hey, at least they came from POLO!

I was thrilled with what Santa brought me as well. I received Starbucks gift cards...THE BEST GIFT EVER, THANK YOU SANTA!, peppermint hot cocoa mix to go with my new hot chocolate pot from Williams- Sonoma, Tommy Bahama perfume, running clothes, all new bathroom decor set from Pottery Barn and PB gift cards, candles, and my camera was also part of my Christmas. This will come as a shocker for most of you, but I was jazzed to get the newest released Pat Green cd! I know, I'm NOT a Texas fan and can't stand most country music; however, I DO love me some good ol' Pat Green! He was just here for a concert in November, but unfortunately, we had to miss it do to delivery conflicts with baby Tavin. One of my favorite things to do is get together with HARB, drink, dance and sing to Pat Green! Andrew has even become a fan, even bigger shocker!

Out of guilt, I also decided to do a LITTLE bit of cooking today. I woke up this morning, made breakfast, Andrew smoked salmon, and whipped up a few side dishes and pumpkin pie to go with the ham. Nothing major, but I now feel better about myself.

Is there anyone out there, other than myself, that DIDN'T do any holiday cooking/baking? Other than a few side dishes for dinner tomorrow and a pumpkin pie, I, once again, ordered my ham from the New Braunfels Smokehouse. With us being alone, I just don't see the need to cook myself into a mad frenzy! I would get myself all worked up (for nothing) because my children would be screaming for me while I frantically tried to cook up a ton of goods and for what.....just so Andrew and I can get fat?????? No, not this year! I'm trying to loose the baby weight, not gain it all back and then some! I hope you all enjoy your wonderful breads, casseroles, baked goods, etc.; I AM jealous and I'm sure Andrew is too!

Last night, we (along with our friends Kris & Dawn), took the kids Christmas caroling in our neighborhood. Caroling might not be the correct word usage. It was more along the lines of jamming out to Christmas tunes from a portable cd player while walking and sharing a bottle of wine. We'll do just about anything as long as it involves getting together with friends and having a drink or two...or 3, or 4, or....

The big event of the evening was dressing Tavin up in the baby outfit I wore for my 1st Christmas 26 years ago! I'm sure my parents are having major flashbacks comparing the 2! I must also add that these photos WERE NOT taken with my kick ass, brand spankin' new camera/GIFT of mine...MINE!!! I'm tired of being critiqued by another adult in this household whos name I'll so kindly not mention. I can't even touch the damn thing without some nervous sound coming out of his mouth. I think I've come up with the solution of only using it when the certain someone isn't under the same roof as I am. It's a shame.

Goodness, where does the time go?????? I don't even know where to begin! For the past month, we've had non-stop guests (my mom & stepdad, Andrew's parents, Kelly & Glenn Ott, and one of my best friends from Alaska, Kim, just left 2 days ago.) You can also throw in giving birth Tavin, Thanksgiving, my birthday ( the 6th), Christmas decorating, sick kid, doctor's apt.'s, picture apt.'s, sitting on Santa (well, Tavin sat on Santa; Salem was scared shitless once she laid eyes on him), and I can't even remember what else...but I know there's a ton more under this sleep deprived mind of mine!

Tavin's 2 week well baby checkup went as planned...he's right on track and growing like a weed! As of yesterday, he's out of preemie diapers (Salem wore them for the first 2 months of life), he can fit into "some" newborn sets, and is my little snuggle bear. He LOVES to cuddle up with mommy and sleep; I just love it!

Weight: 6 pounds, 14 ounces

Height: 19 inches.....what the heck? Tavin was 19 1/2 inches at birth. Someone told me that it's "normal" and babies shrink in size after the cone head goes down. Tavin never had a cone head to begin with. He came out to darn fast for such a thing to occur. Oh well, I'll let it go that they said my kid shrunk!

Head: 35 cm.

I have bucket loads of photos to share with you; however, I'm still trying to figure out how to use my birthday present to its fullest! Yes ya'll, he delivered! Andrew surprised me with the camera that I've been asking for for years.....okay, months (Canon Rebel XSi!) I love it, but dread the learning process that is associated with new gadgets.

These are a MUST HAVE for any mom's out there! With my dishwasher already filled to max capacity on the top shelf with all of Salem's plastic pieces, I could hardly find any room to shove Tavin's bottles (speaking of, yes, I had to give up breast feeding the other day due to lack of production.) So, I am forever grateful to a girlfriend of mine who introduced me to this wonderful invention! For $5 you get a pack of 5 sterilization bags that can each be used up to 20 x's per bag ,and all you have to do is fill it with your accessories, pour 2 oz. of water in the bag, microwave for 2 minutes and taaaaaaa-daaaaaaaa.......you have clean, ready to use bottles! If you're breast feeding, it also works great on all pump pieces/tubing too!

Pass the word along or grab a bag for any new mommy out there! Trust me, they come in very handy!

Classic family shot.....baby's crying, Salem looks like she been through hell and back, and Andrew & I both haven't slept in DAYS!

Thanksgiving was definitely different this year! We ordered all the food from New Braunfels Smokehouse and didn't bother making a single dish.....other than homemade banana bread and Salem made us all cupcakes! Andrew's parents were here to spend the holiday with us and help out with the adjustment of another little one around the house. We couldn't have done it without the extra sets of hands these past 2 weeks. Salem is getting better, but we're still taking EXTRA precautions by keeping her well away from Tavin. This has been THE hardest thing to do. All I want is to have my two babies sitting in my lap, playing, Salem holding her baby brother, and we're having to give it some time. The disappointment on her face KILLS me every time I tell her that she has to keep her distance from him. Oh well, in a few days.

We welcomed baby Tavin Andrew Quinn into the world on Saturday, November 22nd, @ 8:40 PM. I FINALLY got the okay to head to the hospital around 2:00 that afternoon. By the time we arrived, got checked in, and had the pitocin running through my veins, it was 4:45 PM. I opted not to use drugs again and go all natural. Labor was quick, I pushed for 30 seconds, and he was here! Tavin was way bigger than anyone imagined and weighed in at 6 pounds 4.8 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long! Did any of you guess it right? I had the inches down, but was off on his weight. We were discharged late last night, but have found ourselves having to drive all the way back to Wiflord Hall every day this week for a daily weight check on him. He's dropped to 5 pounds 11 ounces (which is in the 10% range that doctors don't like to see you go over.) So, as a mother, I am stressing, yet again, over the idea that I may not be able to produce enough milk for him. I'm fine with bottle feeding, but I REALLY wanted to see if I could make breast feeding work this time around. I'll have to see how it goes once my actual milk arrives.

Now we're working on the normal sibling adjustments that everyone goes through and thank goodness we've had lots of extra hands around to help us out. My mom and stepdad left this AM, and Andrew's parents are now here until friday. Tavin was born on my mom's birthday and what a specail gift he was/is!

I promise to post pictures in the AM. I'm exhausted and going to work on catching up on some much needed zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's! Check back tomorrow for photos of little Andrew....he looks just like him and Salem!

I am aging right before my very eyes. I haven't slept since they informed me of what was/is supposed to be my induction today. I attempted to fall asleep at 12oo and had my alarm set for 3am to head to the hospital, only to call and find out that they have "quite a few beds full and to go back to sleep and call back at 8." WHAT?????? GO BACK TO SLEEP, are you KIDDING ME?????? Andrew, of course, stripped down and zonked back out in NO time; I, on the other hand, know such a thing wouldn't happen even if my life depended on it. How am I supposed to catch some zzzzz's when I'm scheduled to be giving birth sometime today? Seriously.

So, instead, I sit here trying to figure out what in the hell to do with myself to kill time for 3 1/2 hours while everyone else in the household is doing what I SHOULD and wish I COULD be doing.....sleeping! I'm so envious.

Will keep you posted. If it doesn't occur today, trust me, you'll know. I'll have a nasty blog about it later this afternoon; or, you'll hear from us sometime Monday afternoon with photos of our precious!

SATURDAY IT IS!

Another induction will be the outcome of baby Tavin on Saturday AM! We're excited, but it still hits you like a ton of bricks. It's also weird having your choice of days to choose from when exactly you want your child to brought into this world. We decided to roll with this weekend for a number of reasons:

1) It's my mom's birthday and she's here visiting!

2) So my mom and stepdad have the opportunity to even meet the little guy (they fly out Monday AM)

3) In my opinion, the sooner the better

4) Wilford Hall should be WAY more quite during the weekend and I'm the ONLY induction being done on Saturday.

Why are they inducing you ask? Well, also for a # of reasons. My belly is only measuring @ 33 weeks (2 months behind schedule), I haven't gained a single ounce in 6 weeks and I'm shoving all and everything I can into my mouth, and Tavin has only grown an estimated 3 ounces in 3 weeks (which isn't sufficient enough.)

AGAIN, I'm not surprised. The SAME things ALL happened with Salem, but at an earlier rate. Most women and babies pack on the pounds the last few weeks of pregnancy and in our case, the exact opposite happens.

So, with all of this, I have a TON of things to accomplish within the next 24 hours. Salem has holiday photos in the AM, followed by birthday celebrations (mine and my mom's), Thanksgiving, and Christmas in the PM. We thought we would do it all up while we're together instead of sending gifts in the mail over the holiday rush. I also have a LONG LIST of the "last minute to do" things before we head to the hospital. Just keep your fingers crossed that it all works out. We have to call labor and delivery at 4 AM Saturday morning to see if they have room for us. If not, they'll just keep pushing it back day- after- day. I can just feel the gray coming through on my newly colored red hair.

until I feel as if I can relax a little. My mom and step dad are flying in tomorrow afternoon for 5 days to "cover" for us in case we happen to go into labor. If it were, by chance, to happen tonight, Salem would have to go over to Knox's house and I've been stressing over that for weeks. Janelle, Knox's mama, just had a baby girl 6 weeks ago; so I feel as if it would be too much for anyone in that situation to handle. I feel physically ready (he's been moving more than usual these past few days); however, emotionally I'm not there at all. I think all pregnant women get to that point where you feel as if it's never going to end and your going to be huge and miserable the rest of your life! Yep, I'm basically there!

I'm also trying to cram too much into such a short period of time. I'm having guilty feelings about Tavin coming along, so I'm doing everything and all that I can on a daily basis with Salem. So far today she's been to the dentist (okay, not exactly fun, but at least we did it together???), the library, park, lunch outing with Knox, and I took her to get her favorite...ice cream!!!! Now she's napping and I should be making one of my 199 meals that I'm freezing, but instead, I'm venting and shoving as many sour starburst's into my mouth as fast as I can.

I have this weird and unrealistic idea in my head that life is going to come to a complete halt the day we bring him home and that we'll NEVER be able to get out and enjoy all of life's beauty ever again! So that is why I'm basically killing myself trying to let Salem have the time of her freakin' life! I love it, but hate it all at the same time. You should see a 10 month pregnant beast trying to crawl her fat ass in and out of various inflatable jumping castles at our nearby indoor jumping gym. It isn't pretty and we'll just leave it at that!

So, I'm looking forward to having my family here! My mom's birthday is this weekend and we'll also be celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas, and putting up all the holiday decor with them! It'll also be nice spreading out the present overload for Salem throughout the next month (Andrew's parents come next week and we'll be doing the same with them.)

Time for me to get a crack-a-lacking on more of those meals that I'm nesting over. That's another thing, I also feel that I'll never have time to cook a meal in my life ever again, so I'm cooking and freezing things up a storm....what an idiot! I'll probably have more time than ever because we will be stuck in the house all day! Someone stop me, please!

WAY false alarm

Imagine your little angel (that would be a child I'm referring to), coming into your room @ 6 AM to crawl in bed and cuddle with you. You see, this is a daily ritual in our household for the past month or so. I'm usually awake, so she comes in our room and we just hold each other, talk, read books, and wait for the Today Show to start. This morning, however, was different. She was tired and wanted to sleep a little while longer with her mommy and daddy. How wonderful!!!! So, Salem and I were spooning, when all of a sudden, I felt myself get wet......only to realize that it wasn't my water, but urine running down by entire body from my sweet Salem.

Waiting. And Waiting. And WAITING some more. Then WAITING for the right time, only to watch it pass me bye-bye. It will probably happen tonight, which would be bad. I went from being 100% on top of my game, to having a list of things I HAVE to get accomplished TOMORROW. We have a friend in town, John Buske, who's coming over for dinner, I have a hair apt. in the afternoon, I HAVE to vacuum and mop (also sometime in the afternoon), hit the gym, repack Salem's overnight bag that she decided to destroy and scatter throughout the house while I was finishing up wrapping the last Christmas presents, along with other odds and ends here and there. It also doesn't help that are weather has been completely random with today being 80 degrees, tomorrow 70, and Sunday with an AM temperature of 34. Why even bother with the damn bags to begin with when I stress over having to change them out on a daily basis?

So, I would like to know what your estimates are/will be for the little guy. Just when I feel as if it's going happen, I feel like I take 10 steps back. Then repeat, repeat, repeat. Today I'm 38 weeks & 5 days. I have NO clue if I'm dilated or not; I've not even once been checked by my doctor. Can't say I'm really complaining about it or know anyone that looks forward to spreading their legs for that reason. On the other hand, part of me is a bit curious to know if we're progressing at all here.

So, I'll be the first guess and pick the 24th (the doc.'s will let me go up until the 29th due to his size.) I'll also estimate that he'll be 5 pounds 11 ounces, and be 19 1/2 inches long. Salem was 5.1 and only 17 1/2 inches long...tiny girl!

Other than that, have a great weekend and I'll keep you all posted (and hopefully add some pic.'s) in the near future!

Oh yes, I would be/am referring to: WURSTFEST!!!!!!! Another year and sadly, another fest has passed us bye-bye. We managed to make it to 4 out of the 10 days this year and next time, we might just try to top that. Andrew is depressed and doesn't know what he's going to do with himself now that he has to wait an entire year. We had our babysitter watch Salem last night so I could get a "real feel" of what it was all about, and I couldn't believe my eyes (the other days that I've been have always been during the week and more kid friendly.) I've never seen such a diverse group of individuals all joined together to get shit faced drunk, eat sausage on a stick, head-bang (literally for some) to pasty, stinky, beer-bellied, middle-aged (or older) men in their sexy lederhosen. Women throw themselves onto these polka band members like no other. Some even rush the stage and then they send this guy as their bodyguard to tear them off. I don't know about you, but if John McCain was waddling towards me, something tells me I would have a chance against him!

I also can't figure out what the deal is with all the hats. You should have seen all the people buying up the stupid things from the crazy hat vendor. What is it, put a few German beers in people and then they decide they can't live without wearing a basket full of bananas on top of their head? Or better yet, the redneck cowboy who then thinks he needs a pimp hat on top of his cowboy hat!??? The chick dancing on stage was one of the groupies!

Andrew wants the entire family (that would be including me), to get full appropriate garments and wear them next year. I take that back, in reality, he really wants me to go above and beyond that. He wants ME to talk to some of the Opa's I know to see what it would take to get HIM a seat in their organization. Sounds simple, but that is by far the case. There is a waiting list (however miles long), for men to become Opa's here. You have to "know people." Basically, it appears to me, that it's one big fraternity of once again, middle to older aged men that wear lederhosen, dirndis, trachten shoes, Bavarian green alpine hats, have Erzebirge smokers, and vests with too many buttons on them. Ohhh.... I'm turned on just imagining what he would like all decked out for me!

Gluttony is now settling in from all the bread pudding, sausage, fried pickles, iced brownies, and I swear the inhaling of beer alone put me over the edge.

I will now go to bed dreaming of Opa's chanting: "Zicke, Zacke, Zicke, Zacke, Hoi, Hoi, Hoi!

Oh, and Salem had an absolute blast, danced her little toosh off, and indulged into too many bad things just like her mommy and daddy! Any yes, I'm STILL pregnant!

So, Salem is officially potty trained with one exception..... she won't go dookie in the potty. I know it will eventually come with time, but I'm out of ideas on what I can do, as her mommy, to accomplish this hurdle. It is dreadful because not only will she not go in the potty, but she holds it for DAYS. We're talking up to 4 days! She finally got it out tonight, and what a painful sight it was. I didn't think something that large could even come out of a person of her size! I've done the rewards program and have tried every bribe under the sun to get her to go on/in it. She's done it before, but it scared the living daylights out of her when she looked down only to find stinky terds sitting there in her pretty, pink potty. I'm concerned only for the simple fact that she puts herself through such agony by keeping it in over long durations of time. Another issue is she knows NOT to poop in her big girl panties, so she'll only boom-boom in a pull-up. Sounds great, but it's a hard thing to pin down when she's in panties all hours of the day (with the exception of bedtime.) Sometimes she'll ask me for a pull-up, and other days (like today), I had to put one on her because I KNEW she had to go....it had been 4 miserable days! My butt hurts just thinking about it! Any suggestions????

Even though we (Andrew & I) didn't get to party or dress up this year, we had an absolute blast experiencing trick-or-treating for the first time with sweet Salem. Again, she was our little Salem Witch and everyone thought it was very fitting/funny because of her name. Some folks out there are WAY to naive and actually think/thought that we named her after the witch trials. Oh man, that is sad. Close, but we prefer the cigarette reference over the witches. Joke.

Anyways, she acted like a pro and as if she had done such a thing a million times over. She had the doorbell ringing and trick-or-treat down to a T. I wish you could have seen the disappointment on her face when she came across a home that had only left out a dish full of candy (like we did), or the people that would be sitting out side waiting for the children. What kind of fun is that for the kids? Don't they know that pushing the bell 5 x's makes it all the more fun for them?

At this particular treat house, she decided to just barge on in when the lady opened the door and make herself at home. She was actually calling for her boyfriend, Knox, and thought that he was somewhere to be found in there. I just about wet myself when she did that, especially being pregnant....it doesn't take much once you start getting a good laugh going

After the candy rounds, we headed for the annual neighborhood block party. These people are VERY brave to host such a thing every single year....THEY DON'T HAVE CHILDREN! If we didn't have kids, I know, for a fact, that we wouldn't be as giving to families as they are. We'd be hosting redicilous costume parties that are centered around everyone getting shnockerd with not a single little human being in sight!

Andrew is officially a Major pain-in-my rear! On Halloween night, he pinned on the rank of Major and allowed Salem to have the honors of doing so! While most of the world is worried about getting demoted with the economy in shambles, this comes at a pleasant time for him/us.

After the ceremony, we did take Salem trick-or-treating, but I'm going to save those photos for another post because there are a TON that I need to pick through first.

So, on a different note, Andrew decided to kick-off this years Wurstfest by competing in the 5 mile race this AM. He did exceptionally well considering his given age and all :) No, no, he did excellent and I'm a little envious because he beat my time last year. Next year, I want us to run it together and see who will come out victorious among the two of us. Only 365 days and counting until I smoke his ass!

Rrrrr... the fall festival at the Y didn't go as planned. Maybe my expectations were set too high for their 1st annual party. They had great ideas, it just wasn't organized well. My assumption was that it was supposed to be a parent/child festivity, and I was the ONLY parent that stayed. All others, just dropped their little ones off and booked it. Now, how are 3 caregivers supposed to do pumpkin carving with 25 kids? So, after I ended up helping keep everyone else's monsters, princesses, and Dora's in line, I decided to take my witch home with me so I could actually do something fun with her.

Hopefully I'll be able to snap better photos than this come Halloween night.

We took Salem to Sea World this weekend to partake in the Hall-O-Scream festivities there. Let me tell you, it was THE MOST fun we've all ever had at Sea World and I couldn't even do half the things. The weather was beautiful, we didn't have to wait in lines for anything, and we walked away winners in various arcade events. Not only did Andrew win his darling angel one oversized pig, but she walked away with 2!!!!! Then, he had a 2 mile walk just to put them in the car so we didn't have to drag them around the rest of the evening. Oh well, give and take! Salem also won herself a puppy playing a ball-toss game and as you could imagine, was rightfully so proud of herself for doing so.

During the month of October, they turn the evenings into a huge Halloween bash at Sea World with events going on throughout the park. Andrew went through the haunted house and he said it was awesome! Salem and I waited for him because I didn't feel like waiting in line for an hour and a half; so Andrew paid $15 to get a pass to cut the line....well worth it! This guy thought it would be funny to scare me and a 2 year old....it probably was funny on his part and would have found myself doing the exact same thing to someone if I was in his shoes.
